Ok... so as a stylist I am always concerned about the health of my clients hair. With that being said. How does one expect to have healthy long hair if they (1) do not follow their stylist recommendations and instead do their own HOME REMEDIES... Do you apply your own relaxer and/or color? Do you do your own weaves? And God forbid, do you cut your own hair? These are all no-no's in my book if you are not a licensed professional.
Case and Point:
A client of mine we will call her "Sue." Well, I have known Sue since I was a young girl and can clearly remember her having long beautiful hair. About a year ago she found out I was in a salon conveniently near her and decided to try me out. Keep in mind I hadn't seen her since I was young. Well she came into the salon and immediately I noticed their was a huge difference in her hair; it was broken off. Basically she needed a deep conditioning as well as a good cut to get the dead ends off. Very important when you are looking to grow your hair! So she absolutely loved her hair, it wasn't fully back but it was a big difference. I advised her that she would need to come in at least once a month for conditioning treatments and every 2 months for a trim. Well she didn't do either. Instead she went back to old ways and did her HOME REMEDY.
Needless to say when she got back in my chair about 3 weeks ago her hair was worse than the first time, but NOW she's ready to listen. Luckily it wasn't too late I was able to once again give her a good cut and style and she is now back on her way to healthy long hair. This time, instead of saying "ok girl imma call you to make my next appointment," which rarely happens, "Sue" scheduled before she left the salon. I am happy to say I did her hair a few days ago and there's already improvement. Her hair has a natural shine and the integrity is coming back.
If you have a great stylist that advises you about your hair, listen! The results can be promising. We didn't attend 1600 hours of school for nothing. If you do not have a great stylist, I welcome you to schedule a hair consultation. I will fully anaylize your hair and advise you on what I think is best.
Hair Tip:
If you suffer from dry hair, it may be dehydrated which means you need a good moisturizing shampoo and conditioner - and guess what - you also need to drink more water. Our hair not only reflects what we put on it but also what we put in our body. "What we put in our body comes out in our hair." I recommend Madrids Luxurious Shampoo and Conditioner: enriched with Vitamin B5 and Vitaman E you'll notice a difference right away!
