"You are what you eat" or what you don't eat. We have all heard this saying. Well its a true to statement, what we put in our body comes out in both our HAIR and SKIN. Both MEN and WOMEN are affected by this fact. So I am going to paint a picture of what the average person does to create a good appearance for them self. Which usually has absolutely nothing to do with what we choose to eat on a daily basis. I will then provide you with tips on what we should consume to promote healthy HAIR and SKIN. If you do not understand why you may have dry / flaky scalp, thinning / balding hair, sporadic break outs or blotches this article is for you. Lets face it, when we look good we feel good. Its not about buying Dr. Miracles or Pro Active treatments (somebody will not like that). I am going to keep it real, if all it took was a little stimulating scalp treatment and fading cream I guess MEN would never go bold and WOMEN we would just send the extension company out of business. So lets talk about the facts.
MEN you all are so fly right. You go to the barber get a hair cut, lined or faded, and trim your beard. Get some new shoes, spray that good ol' Kenneth Cole or IAM KING and you are winning, right. Nine times out of ten your routine consist of bathing of course and whatever soap you use on your body tends to be the soap you use on your face and hair. Unless you saw Diddy's Pro Active commercial you might have implemented that into your skin regimen. Oh and lets not forget the Head and Shoulders. Is this all wrong NO, but its definitely not all right. If you are a bachelor, college student, or just on the grind (legal of course) smile. Its easy to go to a fast food joint, burrito truck, pick up a soda, donuts, chips etc. whatever fills your stomach. Yes you are saving money and we all know its a recession, however you are not preserving your fly or sexy or whatever you want to call it. Lets put it this way if you implemented a few good changes in your diet not only will you feel better, God forbid you will actually even look better! Take notes I have a few tips at the end of this article.
WOMEN we have it so good. I mean we come in all shapes and sizes with so many skin complexions and unique features. Like someone I know says we are "sexy and delicious"...lol At least we should all feel that way. Lets discover some of our patterns. So if we don't have a little sister, cousin, or friend braiding our hair, we have wigs, or if we can afford to we live in the salon at least two to three times a month, if you are a weave client maybe once a month for touch ups. Nails and Feet done, individual or strip lashes if needed or if we just want an extra "pop", must have the brows arched to perfection, and for the most part we know how to apply both daytime and evening make-up especially if our careers are conscious of our image. So plane and simple "we have to have it together". Realizing we are single parents, working one or two jobs if your blessed, have husbands or boyfriends that act like husbands (let me stop), and if we are not the productive type we still have to look good cause we want Ray Ray or Todd to buy us a drink on Friday night. At the end of the day when we take off the wigs, press on nails, make-up, and lashes is our SKIN and HAIR healthy. If not I have few tips of what to implement in your diet which will promote a healthy scalp, growth of hair, and clear moisturized skin.
Know this fact: "No product you can buy in the store will ever be able to make you have better hair and skin without first making changes from within."

SKIN TIPS I use Cetaphil over the counter but Dr.'s recommend due to the low percentage of chemicals, very sensitive; and Witch Hazel Astringent (keep the pores clean), a daily spf15 moisturizer.
HAIR TIPS I use Design Essentials Theraputics for dry, itchy scalp clients, Madrids Luxurious Shampoo and Conditioner for Moisture with a couple of drops of botanical oil also by Design Essentials. These products are for both Men and Women. Men can also use botanical oil for their beard after they shave as well as on scalp ( will not appear greasy, but give a nice subtle shine). Women I also recommend botanical oil for your scalp and hair this is important if your hair is chemically treated, natural, or in braids.
