Scalp Treatment for Dry Scalp

Dry scalp can be caused by many things, such as; lack of moisture in hair, poor diet, scalp condition, and even changes in the weather.
First you must determine if your scalp is dry or if you have dandruff, or a possible scalp disorder. Here a description of the difference between the two.

DANDRUFF
For people with dandruff, skin cells may mature and be shed in 2–7 days, as opposed to around a month in people without dandruff. The result is that dead skin cells are shed in large, oily clumps, which appear as white or grayish patches on the scalp, skin and clothes.
DRY SCALP
An alternation in temperature or humidity causes dry scalp. For instance, in the winter when the heater is on, the scalp is exposed to a drier environment and the result is peeling and flaking.

Here are some treatment options:
DANDRUFF
Anti-dandruff shampoos use a combination of ingredients to control dandruff. Salicylic acid (used in Sebulex) removes dead skin cells from the scalp and decrease the rate at which these cells are created. Zinc pyrithione kills pityrospora (the fungus responsible for dandruff). Selenium sulfide or Ketoconazole achieves the results of both salicylic acid and zinc pyrithione.

DRY SCALP
You will need:
Denmin Brush
Application Brush
Tea tree oil (3-4 drops)
Aloe Vera (one tea spoon)
Almond oil (one tea spoon)
Clarifying or Cleansing Shampoo (1/4 cup)
*Mix all ingredients together

First brush scalp thoroughly with brush, to remove build-up. Section hair into four and apply scalp-mixture with your application brush. Take 1/4 inch sub sections. Place a cap over your hair. Sit under the dryer for 15-20 minutes. Wet hair, shampoo with mixture. Then use a moisturizing shampoo. Follow up with a conditioner and leave-in before blow drying or wet setting hair.
